TOP 10 THINGS TO SEE IN SINGAPORE
I first visited Singapore 20th July 2012. Since then I have been back to Singapore another 3 times in August 2012, June 2013 and December 2014/January 2015. Singapore is a city state meaning it’s a small country. It is like the Vatican, but some 30 x larger. Singapore is an island south of the strait of Johor. It has no natural land border. But 2 causeways to Malaysia and a ferry to Batam Indonesia. I have gone from top to bottom and left to right in Singapore. I have seen allot, done allot and stayed overnight there twice. Here are my top 10 things to see in Singapore |
Singapore New Years Eve 2014
It was my 4th visit to Singapore in 2 years. I arrived back at Changi Airport at 1AM on NYE. I spent the next 7 hours sleeping until clearing passport control. My day and night was spend re-visiting War graves at Kranji Cemetery, watching a short movie about a man and women weaving, heckling a family's New Years eve musical and falling asleep before MIDNIGHT! in a cheap hostel. |
KRANJI CEMETERY REVISITED ON NYE 14
I went back to Singapore for the 4th time since July 2014. Every time i visit Singapore I pay my respects at the grave of Allan Towers. He was the Great Uncle of one of my childhood friend's. Private Allan Towers was killed in the fall of Singapore 9th February 1942 at a very young age. On my 2nd visit to Singapore i was very surprised to find graves of people who served in the Rhodesian Rifles, King African Riles, Canadian who served in the RAF |
How to get from Woodlands to Johor Bahru
I have crossed the Malaysia/Singapore border 4 times in my life. In January 2015 I took 2 Buses from Woodlands Metro Station to Johor Bahru and it cost me less than $4 It's a huge change of scene because once you cross from Singapore to Malaysia things get cheaper and your back in the world of Islam. But your still in a former British Colony where the people speak great English and are respectful of the British for what they have done for Malaya. |
Third visit to Singapore
In a space of less than 12 months i had entered Singapore 3 times. Not many people can say they have been to the same country three time in a year. In this visit i was able to pay respects to my best mates Great Uncle at the War Cemetery as well as find religious buildings i had never seeing in Singapore. I even took the chance to try out the T3 slide at the Airport. But still the lack of internet cafes in Singapore does my head in and i found it absolutely stupid that Malaysian Airlines couldn't check me in at 6PM for a flight the next day at 6AM! I was able to check into my London flight at KLIA 9 hours before departure! |
First visit to Singapore
When i came home a broke man in June 2010, i had ambitions to get out to Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. 25 months later i achieved that ambition and best of all i got to all 3 nations in one day. My first visit to Singapore was very memorial: Getting hammered on the Singapore Sling @ Raffles Hotel, stumbling into the Cathedral of the good Sheppard drunk, paid my respects at the war memorial and discovered so many damn eyesore in the city. |

Riding the rails to Singapore
I love taking the train from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. It is a cheap way to travel between two nations. It only cost less than $20 AUD and most importantly you save money on accommodation by getting a bunk bed in the train.

Thrashing the Singapore Sling
If your only in Singapore for one day You should down the "Singapore Sling" while visiting the famous Raffles Hotel LONG BAR. |
