HOW TO GET FROM ROME TO VATICAN CITY
This border crossing was going to be a walk in the park for me. It was my 64th nation and the 3rd time I had ever crossed a countries border on foot.
1) Be in Rome
Look! Fly in, take the bus in, take the train in, or even sail in from ROME HARBOR. You got to be in Rome to make this happen
2) Buy an All Day Metro Ticket
Your going to be using the Metro QUIET allot in Rome. For only 7 Euros you can take all the Metro Trains around Rome

3)Get on the LINE A of the Rome Metro. Make sure you get on the train that goes towards Battistini station as thats the end of the line.
4) get off the Metro Train at Ottaviano. On all Metro trains it should say Ottaviano- San Pietro – Musei Vaticani. Its just saying that the Vatican Museum isn't far from this stop.

5)You need to find your way to the Spanish Steps. Once you walk up those steps you will be able to see the famous WALLS of the Vatican.
6) In a short walking distance you will see the famous entry to the Vatican Museum. There will be a long line of people to get in. Unless you want to wait hours in line to get in (and you just want to say you have been inside the Vatican City) I would suggest you keep walking.

7) Not far from St. Peters Square is another border crossing between Italy and the Vatican. This one is guarded by the Swiss Guards. You can clearly see the difference of the tiles when you look between the border. Don't use this crossing as its only for people who work in the Vatican! I mean you could walk through, but because there were SWISS GUARDS I didn't want to muck with them!
Instead I went through this archway and this was where I marked my 64th nation of The Vatican City
To make a ground statement let me just say there are NO PASSPORT checks on the way inside. You won't get a special stamp like you get in San Marino, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg or Monaco, nor will you go through a stupid customs check! The only way in and out of the Vatican is through Italy. So if you don't require a visa for Schengen , or you have got a Schengen visa
