in the last few days on tour in June 2018 I just realize that I have been spending a whole bloody amount of time waiting in a bus station, waiting in a train station, waiting in an airport. This is something that I have been used to doing for most of my adult life.
I never like being late for anything, I've only ever missed one flight in my life, I missed one coach in London (because of some fuck up with announcements). But in all my life, I feel like I am living in bus stations!
In the past 3 years, I have slept at Victoria coach station about 5 times, I've waited for my bus home to Birmingham or my coach to France or even a coach to the airport. The last time I slept at Victoria coach station i was homeless for a night because there was no beds vacant at Birmingham Central Backpackers. 5 days later I left Birmingham for good to live a year in London!
But in the past week I feel like all the bus station in the Balkans and Greece lack many things
PLUS THEY HAVE SO MANY BEGGAR CUNTS, I JUST CROSS MY ARMS AND SAY no!
There have been times this past week where I have been at the bus station, my laptop is flat, my phone is flat and my Camera is flat and there is no where else to charge them, there is no internet cafe anywhere and there just nothing interesting to do.
Thessaloniki station has a waiting room with power sockets and free WiFi. A huge step up than what ATHENS station has.
At least Skopje bus station has a coffee shop where you can drink coffee, charge your phone and buy some religious propaganda for your MUM!
I was sitting in a waiting room at Athens station. My laptop battery is on its last legs. I got another 3 hours and 55 minutes till this night train to northern Greece leaves
I haven't been able to check facebook on my phone, post instagram pics or even vlog.
Yes it is my fault that I don't carry power banks for android. But another problem is, hardly any of these buses in the BALKANS even come with POWER SOCKETS.
The last bus that I saw one on was going from Pula to Split. It had a stupid USB charge that you would hang from the roof as well as a simple 2 prong Europe plug
I just feel these days that I am getting too bored in new cities, I'm seeing everything in a matter of minutes and I'm boring my arse off inside these waiting rooms.
Why isn't there ever a place for us back packers in MODERN European Countries to charge our phone, check our emails, surf the web, do our laundry? You got to remember Ryanair and Wizz Air CHARGE YOU TO CHECK IN. Good luck trying to find somewhere to print your boarding card out in Podgorica, Pristina or even ATHENS!
Even when I don't OVELRAND (When I fly). I can still check my emails with wife, charge my stuff and even oggle some awesome things online.
Athens Train Station need a freaking make over
