Lee Aaron always had her foot in the door in Europe. She was huge in Europe in the 1980’s& 1990's than bellow the 49th Parralel (the USA)
Lee Aaron released her 12th album “Fire and Gasoline” last year in Canada. It was her first rock album in many years and it brought her back into the spotlight after many years doing jazz
I first hear of Lee Aaron around 2008. A mate of mine called James Grant introduce me to metal fronted bands such as Rock Goddess, Zed Yago, Girlschool, Bitch, Holy Moses and Lee Aaron. A year later I found Lee Aarons “Metal Queen” LP @ Egg Records
One day I brought Scorpions "Savage Amusement" on vinyl and I was stunned to hear Lee Aaron voice on "Rhythm of Love"
When I move back to the UK in December 2016, I knew I was going to see allot of legends in town. London is the best place to catch bands. So, when I found out that Lee Aaron was going to be in London the day after my beauty pageant I had to take a day off work
After I rushed from Marble Arch to Tottenham and back down to Camden Town I was ready for Lee Aaron. I was shocked to see an Australian guy wearing a Lord/Dungeon shirt as I seen Lord many times in Sydney. This Australian has been living in London for 25 years
The first band of the night was Neverworld. Four guys on stage. It was amusing to see a band called playing at THE UNDERWORLD. Neverworld hail from Bedfordshire and they have been around for a few years. They are a very interesting band and I find it amusing one of the guys has DREDLOCKS.
After the gig, I got to meet Bass Player Erik Tekilla. A great Mexican-Brit but one amazing bassist. The band is very multi-cultural like how Foreigner is Anglo-American or Air Supply was Anglo-Australian. It’s a band with two Latin-Americans, A Trinidadian and two Brits.
Lee Aaron launched into Tom Boy. I knew the lyrics off by heart as I yelled a big WOOP when she mentioned Greta Garbo (due to my love affair with Sweden). Lee Aaron mic fell off the chord before she picked it up and continued like a pro
Throughout “TOM BOY” I think I saw Lee flip the Bird at me. She was pointing at me throughout the night.
“Hands On” off 1989 Body Rock. People will remember its song for its Music video with the Motorbikes, bikers and painting a mural in the background. But this song was top 40 in Canada and Germany. Her band mates may not look like Glam Metal musicians, but they play Glam Metal.
“Rock Candy” a cover of the famous Montrose song that was written by legends Ronnie Montrose, Sammy Hagar, Bill Church, Denny Carmassi. This cover song is also off Body Rock as its cover song made the album sell well back then.
It was awesome to hear “Fire and Gasoline” the tile track of her new album. It’s just Rock and Roll like we all love it.
“Diamond Baby” A new song from an upcoming album that is due during FALL. Lee Aaron has been working hard in the last few years.
“Powerline” was an awesome song to hear for the first time. To be honest with you all, the only Lee Aaron album I ever own/played was METAL QUEEN. So, during the end of “POWERLINE” Lee cut into “Lady of the Darkest Night”. I started singing backing vocals to this song as I knew the chorus to this song for 9 years.
Lee started singing a new song with a Blues feel called “I’m a Woman” this was dedicated to all the women in the crowd.
“Baby go Round” off her 1994 album Emotional rain. This was one of Lee Aaron last rock album before she started doing JAZZ.
“Some Girls Do” the title track off her 1991 album. Man, this song has some sort of WINGER INFLUENCE ON IT. I mean Winger put out their 2nd record in 1990 and then GLAM was dead a year later LOL.
During this song, it made me realize that Lee Aaron could kick the shit out of all the retards of today’s music. Cause if you watch the music video for “Some Girls Do” Lee is swinging across the stage before Miley Cyrus ever existed on planet earth.
“Sex with Love” I just find it funny that in 2015 I made a list of 10 songs that “METALHEADS SHOULD LISTEN TO WHILE GETTING LAID” and not one of them was a Lee Aaron song. Lee Aaron was the hottest chick from Canada in both the 1980s and 1990s and in today standards she would give that Pornstar Carol Cox a run for her money.
During the song Lee Aaron was making us sing along to the Chorus. At the end of the song she donked the microphone on the man next to me head.
Lee Aaron decided to do a Deep Purple Coverdale era cover of Mistreated. Last time I heard that song live it was Glenn Hughes. One of my favourite Bassist's whom I saw in Sydney in 2009
“Watcha do to my Body” another great SINGALONG SONG. As Lee Aaron was let us sing the chorus. Before the start of this song we were all practice singing high notes. Lee Aaron told us all that too much fish and chips gives us Brits a bad voice. I told her I was born in the Colony of Australia LOL.
I think after tonight’s show I am going to be putting allot of LEE AARON tracks in my “song to play while I’m having sex playlists”
It was talking time as Lee Aaron discussed how she had to have to do battle with the label to have "Barely Holdin' On" released as a single. Legendary DJ Tommy Vance spun this song late at night all over the UK in 1985
The Crowd of 100+ people got excited when Lee Aaron started to sing “Metal Queen”. This was the song I came to her, Lee Aaron is the Metal Queen.
Lee got her guitar out as we all sang along to this song. I had been an awesome bloke in the front row and I couldn’t help but yell out “ROCKS YOUR SOUL” “TAKES CONTROL”
The crowd did their vocal part over the bridge as we all set off a large applause for band as they walked off stage.
Lee Aaron & band walked back on stage to end the night with “Hot to be Rocked” the last song off “Call of the Wild”. Everyone was clapping along as Lee Aaron rocked the stage. The band took a bow and I kissed Lee Aaron hand
At the end of the night Lee Aaron was doing a signing. I told her how inspiring she has been to me in the last few years as she’s one of the many women I love to praise. Lee was surprised that I had emigrated from Australia to the UK for the sake of seeing Metal bands.
I told Lee that I have been pestering my Winnipeg friends to go see her live. Lee told me she’s playing in Winnipeg on the 21st of October 2017 and that I should fly over to Canada for the gig.
This concert has inspired me to go back to Canada one day so I can see Lee Aaron with my Canadian friends Metal Steve and Vanessa.
