Back in 1993 I used to turn into video hits every Saturday to watch Music videos from the past and present. I clearly remember one Saturday in 1993 the music video of Kylie "I Should Be So Lucky" came on. Seeing Kylie Minouge in a Bathtub did shock me because I knew she was naked!
3.45 later Olivia Newton-John "PHYSICAL" music video came on TV. I was really disturbed at seeing all the macho men exercising in the fucking gym! Then all of a sudden, ITS FAT BLOKES SUCKING AT GETTING FIT!
ONJ leaves the overweight men lying on the ground as she heads for the showers. As she turned the shower on I yelled out "OH MY GOD SHE'S NAKED AHHHHHHHHHH!" As I ran out of my living room back into my bedroom!
Years later I would discover that Olivia was not naked, but showering in a leotard and the fit men in the end of the video were a bit of a homosexuals!
Later on in the day Kim Wilde music video of "If I Can't Have You" came on Video Hits! It was memorizing to see a blonde Brit in her 30's dancing around a London apartment, knocking things over before taking off her blouse and changing top!
Years later I would leave behind my shitty music to become a Metalhead.
Back in 2012 I went to Hamburg to see my mates band LORD perform at Headbangers Open Air. On the Saturday night Lord Tim snuck out to Hamburg to see his hero Kim Wilde, while I hung out with the rest of the band.
I told myself that if I ever was to emigrate to the UK (and NOT COME BACK TO FUCKING AUSTRALIA) I would see Kim Wilde live
Fast forward to 2017, I am having dinner with a Georgian family on TV a KIm Wilde music video comes on tv and its sparks my interest in her music. By the end of 2017 Kim Wilde put out a single with Lawnmower Deth titled F U KRISTMAS and released a brand new album by the dawn on 2018.
I was stoked that Kim Wilde was going to come to London. I have seen allot of NON METAL gigs in my life but Kylie hogs the lime light with her bloody backup dancers, Olivia has a shitty orchestra (apart from the cool Andy Timmons). But then I always have some wild fun everytime I go see Tokyo Taboo, Hands off Gretel and what not!
For less than £30 I was going to see Kim Wilde in Camden Town. She was playing at a venue I had never been to before. Koko! My mate George told me it was a really cool venue and I should enjoy the concert!
Before going to see Kim Wilde I had a preview of her new album HERE COME THE ALIENS. It was inspired by a sighting of UFO Kim saw back in 2009. With fun songs such as "1969", "Kandy Krush" and "Pop Music" the WILDE clan has really gotten together to be push back in the Lime light
for the last few years Kim's niece SCARLETT has been singing backup vocals with her Aunt while her brother Ricky has been Kim's guitarist for many years!
I got to the venue after 6pm, waitied for aged to be let in, spent a whole hour standing before some guy with a guitar and a LOOP pedel did a 25 minute set.
Kim Wilde came on stage with an amazing full band that featured 2 drummer, 2 guitarist a bassist, a backing singer. The band came out on stage first before Wilde strutted her stuff wearing a silver jacket with frills, laser like SPEX and a Barbarella inspired one piece set that she wore the entire set.
"Water on Glass" was off her 1st album back in 1981. If you had told Kim Wilde she would still be kicking arse some 37 years later, she would brush it off.
Kim Wilde welcomed us all to London. She was telling us all how proud it is to be back in London and to put a new album out that her niece designed the album cover!
"Never Trust a Stranger" came out in 1988, 30 years later its still a fan favorite. The whole of Koko was singing along to to this song!
Kim Wilde kicked it into 6th gear by playing some new stuff. KANDY KRUSH! A song inspired by that stupid addictive game (that I have never ever played!) When I was dining with my cousin in Aberdeen this month, she told her daughter to make KIM WILDE happy by playing some KANDY CRUSH!
Cambodia is a classic Kim Wilde song and a staple to her set list. Cambodia is kinda dear to me as I went there in 2016 for 2 days! At the time this song was released it was STILL called Kampuchea. Its all about an Imperialist US pilot crashing his plane in Cambodia and never seeing his family again as hes stuck there!
Birthday: ITS A really rocking song. Its off the new album HERE COME THE ALIENS!
"YOU'RS TILL THE END" Its another great song off her latest album.
The crowd became excited to hear some OLD SCHOOL Kim Wilde when she sang "ANOTHER STEP" She did a duet with her Niece SCARLETT on this song as back in the day this was a duet with JUNIOR.
During ANOTHER STEP I just couldn't stop fucking headbanging. Yes Kim Wilde isn't METAL, but she is very ROCK N ROLL! I remember yelling out HI SCARLETT before the song started as Kim's Niece said HI TO ME!
Kim Wilde kept it in the 80's by performing "World's Fell Down" It was just fucking fantastic when I am dancing on the spot while the lady in the front of me STARTS grinding on my package! I haven't felt my package go into a hollow at a concert in ages!
In 1982 Dennis Hopper appeared in the movie BLADERUNNER! 2 years later Kim's Clan wrote a song inspired by this movie!
Kim Wilde asked us all if we wanted to do some SINGING! We all said yes as Kim's brother Ricky got out his acoustic guitar. We all started signing along to the Bee Gees written song "IF I CAN'T HAVE YOU" made famous in Saturday Night Fever!
I started crying during this song as I sang along to Kim Wilde. I never thought that as an 8 year old (who was born in a shitty fucked up imperialist country Australia) would I ever get to move to the UK and see Kim Wilde!
It was kinda shit the band didn't play an ELECTRIC version as they just had Piano, Acoustic Guitar and SCARLETT on backing vox! But It was a good job!
FOUR LETTER WORD! Allot of people in the crowd were stoked this song was getting played live! After all its been 30 years since it came out!
After 2 songs off the new album everyone was singing along to "YOU CAME" as this was the song allot of people came to hear. It was followed up by Kim Wilde's only US #1 song "You Keep Me Hanging On"
Kim Wilde got a laser gun out and started talking about her XP about seeing a UFO in London back in 2009. This song kinda drives paranoia into the ground. It was funny when most of the band members started wearing ALIEN masked as they were boot scooting left to right just like how a crab walks!
Kim Wilde went off stage before we all started demanding an encore. She excited us all by singing POP MUSIC with her Brother Ricky before closing the night with the classic track "KIDS IN AMERICA".
I remember back in 2002 when that Jimmy Neutron movie came out, they used this song as the children are flying into space to rescue their parents
that was the end of the night. This concert was better than one OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN concert and 3 Kylie Minogue concerts. Throughout the gig I couldn't stop yelling out "FUCK KYLIE MINOGUE", even though I would have offended allot of people or 3.
Would I see Kim Wilde again! Yes I would and I would even bring a friend with me.
