When i came home on 7th January 2015 i was fucking bummed out that i got a mysterious illness that screwed up my travel plans. I miss out on going to Manila, Myanmar, Bangkok, Cambodia, HCMC, Hanoi, Laos because
- I didnt take enough t-shirt with me and i sweated so much
- People in Kota Kinabalu were asshole to me because they couldnt do my laundry in a day, they couldnt serve me a small coffee at Starbucks and the people wouldn't give way to me while crossing the streets.
- People wouldn't cover their fucking mouths in Borneo so they wear spreading their respitory illness and it made me feel like i had TB, Malaria or Bronchitis
- I didn't give myself the time to do my own laundry after i left Timor
If you are an Australian resident and you get an illness in Asia, well there is no pointing hanging around a continent filled with sick people as that will make you sick and you will be stuck somewhere and either end up in hospital or have Pneumonia and not be allowed to go home and even if you have travel insurance you still have to pay
So i went back to work at my private job after Australia day and i saved some money, got a flight in October to go to Stockholm.
In the last few weeks my Father in Cairns has asked me when i was going to come up. Going to Cairns to see my dad is an expensive procedure. Id prefer to see him in Sydney and i did that in September 2014.
I was given 2 weeks away from work over this Easter holiday period. When i found that out i felt like that i couldn't see myself spending 2 weeks at home doing nothing.
So i booked a cheap Tiger Airfare to Cairns. I left Sydney 7.20am on Sunday 29th of March. I was 2 days late for my Dad's 66th Birthday but it didn't matter. I was going back to Cairns since December 2012 and i was seeing my Father again after 6 months.
I like seeing my Dad but i never get any fucking independence to go out and do stuff. If i had my ways I would have just stayed in a hostel and chatted up women. But i love my Dad and i want to give him a hand around his house and I have only seen him some 4 times in the 8 years he has lived in Cairns.
I have a better relationship with my Dad and his estranged British Family than I have with my Mother and her family that i have been estranged from since 2012. My mother is going to see her brother get married for the 4th time in 35 years and I am glad I am staying out of New Zealand for good.
In Searching of Papua New Guinea
Every time i go to Cairns i always kick myself that i am not going to Port Moresby or Japan because it seems cheaper and closer to go from Cairns to Port Moresby than Sydney.
The only thing that was holding me down was accommodation in Port Moresby. I didn't want to experience expensive all over again so i found someone on Airbnb.com to host me for a night this week.
There is hardly any cheap accommodation in Port Moresby you would think they would have $50 hotels or hostel, but there is no hostel in the whole of Papua New Guinea, there are cheap motel in dangerous parts of the capital and there is hardly any cheap flights from Port Moresby Airport to other Asian nations.
So a return ticket to Cairns has cost me $550 just to visit Port Moresby for 2 days.
If I am only ever going to visit Papua New Guinea in my life its either going to be Port Moresby or a border crossing with Indonesia. So i booked the flight last week and ill be in Port Moresby sometime this week
The good thing is I can get a Visa on Arrival at Port Moresby because i have a British passport. If i didn't have a British Passport then I would have had to apply for a Visa in Advance.
I would have loved to take a flight to Vanimo and crossed into Indonesia at Jayapura but the flight to Vanimo from PNG cost $400AUD and i have already paid like $550 just to get to one nation.
I was supposed to go to Korea/Japan in September 2013 to see Lord but my lack of money and my willingness to work on my career kept me grounded at home for 18 months of 2013/2014
Id like to visit Osaka to see that amazing Osaka Tower and for the sake of going to Japan for a couple of days. If i went to Osaka than instead of going back to Australia I would go to Malaysia and see my Bishop friend in Kota Bharu near the Thai border and perhaps finally get into Thailand after all this time
My Australian passport expires in March 2016. It cant be accepted as a valid travel document after 10th September 2015. If i want to leave Australia and go somewhere my passport either has to be valid for at least 6 months and I wont ever be using my Australian passport unless i wanted to go back to Tehran and deal with my friend i haven't seen in 3 years. But if i can leave Australia and get to London before September then i wont need to waste $250 on an Australian Passport i got no desires to ever whip out and get stamped.
