In September 2014 I wrote this blog post about doing 15 things in the next few years. At the time i was 28, living in Syndey with my Mum & Brother Simon, I had been on 30 nation and I was about to end a long stupid 17 months without travel
3 years later I'm 31, living in London hostels, I have been on 56 nations and I'm about to end a streak of 10 months without travel (outside the UK)
1) Save more than a 5 figure sum
I'm not really good at saving money. I am good saving it to get out of the UK every 3 months. But long term I just think I would be best living this current London life and going traveling every 3 months.
If I am going to save for something, its to go move to Sweden in the near future.
2) Travel to South East Asia/ The eastern part of Asia
In a period of two years I went to: Timor Leste, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Hong Kong S.A.R, Macau S.A.R and China
I only got Philipines, Taiwan, Mongolia, DPR Korea, Rep of Korea and Japan left to see in the eastern part of Asia
both Philipines and Taiwan can be visited on the way to Australia, same with Japan.
3) Live in Sofia for 3 months+.
I was gonna go live with a Bulgarian chick in 2015, but that never happened. I don't want to live in those poor countries of the EU because I won't get much work or a better paycheque than London, Stockholm, Copenhagen.
4) Move to Birmingham.
I moved to Brum 3 times within 24 months and I just hated it. It took me 3 moves to get a job and when I got work I had the worst hours, the worst jobs and the shittest location.
I swear never to live in Birmingham, even if i was offered a full time Kitchen Porter job SMACK BAG in the city centre.
I have spent more British time in London. I will never live in any other British city except for London and maybe BELFAST!
5) Find my Anthony ancestor’s.
In the last few years I discovered
My Grandpa had no brother whos name started with R.
I have traced my ansestory back to Scotland in 1839
My Great Uncle William Anthony went missing in Dunkirk
My Great Uncle John Anthony lived till 73
My Great Aunt Agnes outlived her own children, 2 of her grandchildren and husband
I just need to go meet my Cousins in Scotland
6) Get a bar job in the UK There are a lot of people in Australia who never gave me a chance to get a job as a bartender.
OK I have now worked as a Bartender/Bar Back in both the UK and Australia. So if that Uruguan dickhead Riccardo Villa ever saw me working behind a bar, he would die of a heart attack.
Bar jobs are mostly agency shit. I get more hours being a K.P in London than I did in Brum.
7) Be nice too poor people, touts and beggars, no matter how much they piss me off.
I've done it! I went to Timor Leste and put more money in the locals pocket. I did that too in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Touts are always going to be there, you just have to be ok.
8) Take the Trans-Siberian railway from Moscow to Vladivostok
COMPLISHED THAT 14TH-21ST OF NOVEMBER 2016 and I willbe happy to take that train ride every year for the rest of my life.
I've had to tell allot of Cunce (who critercised me for taking this train) to GOATANDGETFARKED! I would like to advise the world that you can make this planet allot more greener IF YOU WENT OVERLAND.
I'm no Hippy, left wing, right wing, centre field WHATEVER! I'm not afraid of flyings, I just think flying sucks balls!
10) Organize a future UK tour for Hellbringer
I've missed out on 3 World tours of Hellbringer. When guitarist James Lewis left the band in Dec 2016 to move to New York I was shattered a bit. I'll try to see them on tour, but I'm not into bringing bands over to the UK
11) Sell at least 100 copies of my book
Still the same shit about 800 Rycher fans of Queensryche coming to my website and not one of these motherfuckers wants to buy my book on travel. I can tell you I have sold about 25 copies in 3 years. So thanks to the 25 legends.
12) Look into getting a brief job in Hong Kong
I've been to Hong Kong (Nov 2016) but I never looked into getting a job. I met a Slovak lady in Hong Kong. I can change from tourist to work permit within a 6 month stay. Its just I'd need 3 months of my medicine from the UK or I go back to OZ to pick some up.
13) Make music with my Cousin Charles in London.
Its not happening. He lives in Guernsey, I live in London. We're just too busy. Charles still does his guitar stuff and I'm proud of him
14) Travel overland from Cairo to Cape Town
Okay this journey is in the PIPE LINE but its not going to be a walk in the park like my Vladivostok to London trip that was 3 and a bit weeks. I'm budgeting for less than $5000 and I need a time frame of 2 months. Once I get to Cape Town just return to the UK
The UK government will give me 3 month supplies of medicines to go abroad. But then again it might be worth a cheap trip to Australia to get 6 month stock of medicines. Its just my thyroid medicines in the UK don't need to be refridgerated. But those Australian thyroid tablets need to be kept in a FRIDGE.
15) Go to more *smaller* Metal Festival
I haven't been able to go to smaller Metal festivals. But I have seen a shit load of bands in the UK. I don't feel the need to spend money to go to any metal festival if the band I like is going to play in London, then I will see them in London
Things to do in the next few years
1. GET OUT OF THE UK EVERY 3 MONTHS AND GO OVERESEAS
2. MOVE TO SWEDEN ONCE I FINISH MY CAIRO TO CAPE TOWN JOURNEY
3.GET TO MY 100 NATION TO JOIN THAT CLUB
4.GET THAT B2 US VISA AND DO MORE GRAVE RESEARCH IN LA
5.FIND LOVE WITH A MATURE AGED WOMAN.
6. VISIT METAL STEVE & VANESSA IN WINNIPEG
7. SEE LEE AARON IN CANADA.
8.TOUR XI'AN WITH MY FRIEND JEFF
9.SET FOOT IN SOUTH AMERICA & CENTRAL AMERICA
10 STILL RESIDE IN THE UK, BUT KEEP REVISITING AUSTRALIA.
