So I went to London and spent the night sleeping in Victoria Coach Station as I had done so many times in 2015 & 2016.
2nd June 2017. It was that day I gave a big middle finger to Birmingham. I had grown tired of living in Brum, not getting my Job Seeker Allowance, wankers at Ed Easy Diner Milkshake Stand not giving me a job and I was disgruntled at having to pay £13 a night at Birmingham Central Backpackers.
I got off the Megabus that evening and paid about £120 for a 2-week stay at No.8 Seven Sisters hostel. I was ready and waiting to start looking for work but getting JSA aswell.
The London Bridge attack the next day made my Mother in Sydney want me to come home. I had been away from shitty Australia for 7 months. I really didn't want to go back to Australia and resume living in that dorm room in Melbourne.
Days after that attack I was pissed off at all the scumbags who work at JOB CENTRE PLUS in Tottenham. I was depressed because there were days I was supposed to go in for a trail at a central London restaurant, but I couldn't be stuffed because I had to deal with Job Centre douchebags or lose my JSA.
I was willing to get on a plane to Manila and not give a fuck about London for another year.
I was about to pay £500 to get a flight back to Sydney, but then I couldn't read that retarded security code on the back of my NAB card. Instead, I put £500 quid in my bank account and used it to pay for accommodation.
I spent the majority of June in Seven Sisters. that part of LONDON is very special to me, especially all the fried chicken shops & having a £5 English breakfast (with naughty fried bread) was awesome.
I gained employment one day in June. It was another Bullshit agency (like the scumbags at Berry Recruitment). The next day I just didn't feel like going to work. Reason being I had a shirt & no cufflinks and I just wasn't feeling happy that day.
I didn't want to work in a top London hotel for a day and go somewhere else. I went to Putney that day instead and visited the grave of Sandy Denny for inspiration.
My cousin Charles came up from Guernsey to see Guns N Roses. So he went out of his way to visit me in Seven Sisters for breakfast. I was delighted that my Cousin came to see me, but some days I feel shit that my relatives in MIDDLESBROUGH can't get on a bus to visit me in London. Charles gave me the inspiration to stay on in London.
After meeting up with Charles, I topped off my weekend by seeing VOIVOD in Camden Town on Sunday and stealing one of CHEWY guitar picks.
The next week I landed a nice Kitchen Porter job in London. 26 hours+ a week contract and nice working conditions. No more going from location to location for work.
To celebrate my success of getting my first London job (AND NOT BACKING OUT OF IT DUE TO ANXIEXTY, DEPRESSION, JSA) I went up to Cambridge to meet my mature age Cousin, Lesley. This was my first time ever visiting Cambridge. It was nice to meet my cousin Lesley after 27 years. Her mother was my GREAT AUNT JOAN who emigrated from New Zealand to London in the 1930's and lived to the ripe old age of 95.
After starting a new job in Central London, I moved from Seven Sisters and into MONKEY IN THE TREES Hostel at the very end of SHEPPARD BUSH. You may think its common for an Australian-Born man (who hates Australia) to live in Sheppard Bush, but no! Sheppards Bush is more Middle Eastern than AUSTRALIAN!
I spent 2 weeks in of SHEPPARD BUSH. I really did hate that hostel. I have lived in many hostels in my life, but this one gave me BED BUGS BITES. A shit load of people had been ranting online about this bed bug infested joint.
I signed off Job Seeker allowance because I was working more than 16 hours a week. In a country like the UK, you need to be working to support yourself, not dealing with Job Centre pricks wasting your time when you should be doing job trials.
It was funny that I got £40 quid as my last JSA
as I spent that on 15 minutes shag with my favourite Pornstar FRANCESCA KITTEN. It was funny to pay for sex with Taxpayers Money in Sydney, but in the UK it was a last minute SOD OFF to Job Centre for stuffing around with me.
Mid-July I moved to No.8 Tottenham for the rest of July & August. It was during this time I saw Lee Aaron in Camden Town as well as TOXIK and I competed in the Mr & Miss Queen of Diversity agent in Brum.
I worked well on my job and I was bloody well saving allot of cash on Transport. I would only pay £3 a day to get to and from work.
August came by and I was living in another hostel in North London. By the end of the month, I had decided it was time to start living in a house. It had been 4 months since I moved out of my normal home in Birmingham.
I put down a deposit on a room and I move in this week.
Living in FOUR London Hostels in THREE months really did help me get my feet on the ground in this big city. I now have a great job, I now live in a nice part of North London, I have made so many friends and I am proud to call myself a Londoner.
3 years ago If you tried to persued me to live in London I would have said "NO" and stuck with Birmingham. After living in Birmingham 3 times over a 2 year period, I no longer want to live in the BLACK COUNTRY! Reason being it's bloody ridiculous
to live in Birmingham but have to work in Stafford, Staffordshire or Wolverhampton, West Midlands, Nobody in Birmingham will give you a decent job with a minimum hour contract and you got to remember that Broad Street in Birmingham sprawls with CRIME day in night out.
What I never got in Birmingham, I gained in London. Yes, it was sad to leave that nice house on Hagley Road West and a wonderful Anglican Church of Quinton. But I got allot of London to see. London is now my home and I want to stay here for a while.
