Staying at Abby court Hostel in Dublin
Earlier in 2015 my influence: Jonny from dontstopliving.net went to Dublin for a visit and he stayed at the famous Abby Court Hostel in Dublin. After seeing all the picture and how nice the free breakfast were I made a booking for 2 nights.
I arrived in Dublin at 5.50am and I was on the bus and going to the city within a matter of time. Once I got to McDonalds I had a hard time trying to get a good Wi-Fi connection. But after i walked down the I was standing in front of the Abby Court Hostel.
I went in and said Hi to the receptionist at 7am to put my bags in storage and pay my remaining balance. Since I had arrived early, I was able to score myself a free breakfast downstairs.
Breakfast was pretty much continental or COLD as you say. You could have 3 types of cereals, unlimited toast and even plenty of fruit, jams and tea & coffee.
So everyone had a good breakfast and there were tons of staff downstairs to do the cleaning. But IMO i think you should do your own dishes.
They had signs all over the kitchen wall saying DO YOUR DISHES and "EVEN MADONNA DOES HER OWN DISHES" and that was pretty rad.

Abby hostel contains about 5 floor of rooms. There is a games room, a bar room, a room with hammocks and even Guinness room.
On my first day I spent a quiet 40 minutes in the hammock room. But then the following day it was turned into another dorm room.
I had room #29 with a bottom bunk. All the beds had caged lockers where you could put your stuff in and lock it up to prevent theft.
Along the staircases are murals of famous people such as: Bono, Nelson Mandela, Michael Jackson and even Marilyn Monroe. It was amusing to see a Marilyn mural with lipstick marks all over. It just reminded me of a time i shagged a redhead dressed like Marilyn.

The hostel is open 24 hours a day. They have luggage storage for 2 Euro's a bag if your a guest. This keeps your large suitcase safe from theft.
The Kitchen down stairs as all the things you need to cook your own meals. I ended up having noodles in a boiling cup of water for dinner one night.
There is a vending machine if you want a can of Guinness for 3 euros instead of paying 5 at the bar.
My review
In all it was a great experience and I recommend Abbey Court Hostel for any backpackers going to Dublin. Only 12 Euros a night for a BUNK BED!

My review
- The bunk beds in dorm 29 were comfortable and using those cages to keep my bags safe was a good idea. I had power sockets next to my bottom bunk so that made it easy for me to recharge my laptop and phone batteries.
- Breakfast was 10/10. Most hostels in Europe are too lazy with cereals as they just give you sliced bread instead
- The staff we're friendly except for this one lady that prevented me taking my bags out of storage because a Dublin lad had already taken my bag tokens
