I still don't own an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or any smartphone. Its been 8 years since the first iPhone came out and I still haven't got one yet. WHY? BECAUSE ITS TOO FRICKEN EXPENSIVE AND A WASTE OF MONEY!
When I was 18 I saved up $250 and brought a Nokia 3200 outright. It took me 4 months of saving money because I wasn't working at that age. I could have brought a whole bunch of shit for $250 back in July 2004.
The Nokia 3200 was the coolest phone to have in 2004. You could make your own phone covers using a cutter, you could record 1 minute of Audio, you could take 320x280 size photograph and listen to a radio. Its was so fucking cool I had to get one.
Ill always remember playing this Java Game called: Xtreme Boxing where you would go head to head in the ring against the RED GUY and the coolest part of the game was you could push your opponent up against the electric ring and kill him after 5 seconds or so.
I regret buying this phone in 2004 for $250AUD as I could have got it for a cheaper price. Months later the Nokia 3220 came out and it had better features than the 3200
Years later I have spent less than $200 on a phone. The last 3 phones I have owned have all came in at a total of $90 AUD.
My 1st Samsung was a BRICK but it had facebook and it cost me $50AUD. My 2nd Samsung was still a BRICK but it didn't have the internet.
It might be fancy that you have an Iphone that takes photographs, films videos, shows you a map, tells you where you are. But an iPhone shouldn't replace the necessaries of a REAL Camera, Video Camera or PAPER MAPS
If you want to go out next week and spend $1000 on an iPhone I pity you. $1000AUD can go a long way in nations like Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos and even Bulgaria.
If I hear you complaining to me that I am lucky to travel the world and you can't. Then I am just going to turn around and tell you to sell YOUR STUPID IPHONE AND BUY A RETURN TICKET TO MALAYSIA ON AIRASIA WITH THAT MONEY!
If you really do want a smartphone than just buy something that is cheap for less than $100. But when I come to think of it nobody should be paying $100 for a basic phone these days. I spend 10 quid in Gravesend for a basic Samsung phone that I used only for SMS and calling. There was no INTERNET, no FACEBOOK and only one gave of SUDOKU and that is all you need with a photo.
When I got back to Sydney 2 weeks ago I brought an ugly phone called a ZTE and it cost me $30, it had no internet or facebook but best of all it came with a USB cable so I could charge my phone via USB
Another thing I want to tell you all is that you should stop wasting your money on using the internet on your PHONE.
There is no point of anyone going online on their phone to check their facebook, twitter or even SATAN FORBID STREAM A BASKETBALL GAME. It's a waste of money and by checking your FACEBOOK on your Optus Prepaid just eats up all your credit and you keep recharging your phone with $30 every 2 week but your not spending that $30 on making phone calls or SMS you're spending it on checking your facebook in public when you could have just waited to get home.
In the end, there are 2 points to this seminar
1) DON'T BUY A SMARTPHONE! BUY A BRICK PHONE INSTEAD
2)STOP SURFING THE INTERNET ON YOUR MOBILE PHONE.
You make my words. You will never ever see me with a iPhone. Even if it only cost me $50 at a PAWN SHOP. I'll never buy one.
BRICK PHONES 4 LIFE!
