I felt like in 2015 that i need to go to one gig a month, even if is BASTARDIZER or an oversea band. In 2014 i went to 6 gigs in Sydney: Living Colour, Backyard Mortuary, Coroner, Dream Theater and about 2 BASTARDIZER SUPPORT GIGS.
I went out to Moore Park to watch MARDUK from Sweden, Inquisition (who formed in Colombia but resides in Seattle) and Melbourne act Denouncement Pyre.
I have never listed to a Marduk record, but their name is embraced in the minds of Satanist/Black Metal fans. I would have seen Marduk in 2013 when they came here with Portal. But I had to work for some old ladys 80th birthday. It was fucked up private function at Harvest Cafe that was falling apart and i backstabbed the owners after it closed it doors in April 2013.
I missed out on seeing Marduk at Hellfest 2013 because i went to bed early on Sunday. I just get fucking tired at all these festivals.
I was lucky to see Inquisition at Hellfest in 2013. But i have never ever own one of their albums. They are an interesting band that started out in Colombia but the Front man Dagon moved himself back to Seattle where the band resided
I spend most of the afternoon hanging out at Moore Park. There were far too many teeny boppers waiting to get into the Horden Pavilion to see some shitty rock band called "the 1975". it reminds me of a time when i was 22 year old. I was waiting outside the Forum for the Saxon gig, but across the road we're all the fucked up emo kids in line for" A7X, Bullet for my Valentine.
Its a huge fuck up they have this "1975" gig on the same night as Marduk. I want to hang around with Metalheads and maybe get hit on by some MILF near by.
Dagon was outside the venue smoking, I knew he was the lead singer of Inquistion but i didn't want to be a stupid fan boy. So i just sat on a slab on concrete and talked about rent in Sydney with a guy who works as a sound engineer.
I hung out with the blokes from Bastardizer as we talked about D.R Congo and how the Belgians fucked around with the natives.
I went inside to watch Denouncement Pyre set. They have been going strong for the last 10 year with a new record release in 2013, it seem this Australian Blackened Death Band won't be slowing down. I have not seen a Black Metal band in ages.
last year they played with USBM legends ABSU along with Portal. It's a shame i didn't goto this gig
I was really happy to see Inquisition for the 2nd time in 24 months. This was their 2nd visit to Australia as they came here in 2012 for Evil Invaders IV.
Inquisition is allot more interesting to watch if your at a small venue rather than a huge festival.
As i am staring at the stage, i realize how easy it is to make music if its just two people. They tend to have some long songs as epic songs are more of a Black Metal thing.
I should probably go listen to some more Inquisition. they have put out like 6 or so albums since the 1990's and there is no stoping them. There seems to be a negative instimga towards US Black Metal. But this band was formed in Colombia and its now part of the underground Seattle Sound
I stayed around to watch Marduk and those guys have just so much awesome talent. I just can't belive they are Swedish and not Norwegian. But i mean DEAD was a Swede and he ended up buried in the same Cemetary as Greta fucking Garbo.
I am heading to Sweden in Oct/Nov so hopefuly i can catch a Marduk gig in either Stockholm, Malmo or Gothenburg
